I have been pretty careful around my laptop, but dirt, hair and whatnot inevitably gets into the keyboard at times. I didn’t really pay any attention to this at first, because while I had a PC I cleaned the keyboard a few times, but not too often, since it worked fine regardless.
Well, I also travel a lot, and each time I folded my laptop out I saw that the are between the keys and the monitor was really dirty, and so was the monitor. I put it down to the rigors of travel, dust inside the case, whatever.
Only after about two weeks did I realize that while I was traveling, the movement and tossing about shook some of the dirt out of the keyboard, where it was forced to smear against the monitor and other parts of the laptop.
So be extra careful if you have a laptop, and if you see the grime starting to build up, just pop the keys out and clean it, this shouldn’t take more than a half hour each month or two, and well worth the time.
