Social 2.0 ring |
|
Just wear it as a normal ring (it looks pretty good), and when you shake hands with someone their identity information gets transfered to your ring. Imagine sitting in a meeting and shaking hands with 20 new faces, will you remember all the names and stop to take down everyone’s phone number? Numbers, emails, addresses, pictures can all be transfered with the ring, which will apparently have some sort of led display built in.
Another awesome concept is the ring’s base, which is essentially an information viewer. You take off the ring, place it in the business card like base and you can turn it, controlling the view with it. I just love this design meets function build, apart from looking great it’s also very usable, and a great idea.
The downside is that it will only perform this function if the other person has a similar device, so I have doubts about this device. If it would catch on though it would be great, I can imagine using it with bracelets, even perhaps necklaces, since not everyone like wearing rings. Women could have one built into a pocket mirror in their handbag, and they could view the info in the mirror.
I love the idea of these “proximity devices”, they could be immensely useful in remembering people, and anything else, you could also make notes on your contacts on the go and so on. The same ring could be used to pay at the supermarket, and to open your front door. I see great future in this, I hope it catches on in some form soon!
