Monitor your folders and auto-delete files within with a nifty application called Auto Delete. This is great for some of the archiving folders I use, I can set to delete files older than 1 month, or 1 year, very handy to keep your hard drive from overflowing with cra… clutter.
A new browser, or rather new browsers, has come out called Lunascape. The interesting thing is that it has the Gecko, Webkit and Tirdent engines inside it meaning it can be made to run like IE, Firefox, Safari, Chrome, and all their derivatives. This is a paradise for programmers, great find!
If you believe in power napping or are a follower you’ll love Napsounds, a service that, get ready for the shock, generates sounds for your nap. Who’s have guessed? You can get 20 minute tracks, and one of the great things is you can download it, listen online, grab it as a podcast using iTunes.
I just found a service through Make Use Of called Kaltura, which is a great app for video management on your site. It allows the management of videos, best of all in Wordpress with a little addon. You will have much more power over your included videos, which has always been a sort of gray area until now.
Springpad is an app I’ve wanted to show you before, and I’ll be doing an in-depth view later on, but until now take a look at the great introductory post by Varun on Make Use Of. It’s basically a note based organizer for your life, so if you’re into Remember The Milk, personal wikis, Google Notebook or anything like that, Springpad is for you.

great apps but what about mac users

Since I don’t own a Mac I am not in a position to cater for Mac people at the moment
I will be later on, but I’d rather leave you out, than talk about something I’m clueless about.

The issue with some of the note taking sites you mentioned is these are really high end clipping solutions. If you’re out in the field and you want to jot down pure information: either writing something to yourself or transcribing (like taking notes in class or a meeting) - these tools really don’t solve that. They are great for copy/paste jobs but they don’t help you get information down fast or accurately…
I finally found something that actually helped me transcribe notes online.
If you want a pure text note taking solution that is absurdly quick, barebones, and focuses on data entry check out http://www.ayenotes.com for taking notes online.
AyeNotes was wired for text only notes - sort of the use you describe in your article. Its key feature is that it provides clips for frequently used strings. These can be templates you type, terms you use (action items, research, etc.), or it can be programmer-esque things like HTML and Markdown.
The site also autosaves the work and provides keystroke. If you have the site remember the login, everytime you go to http://www.ayenotes.com to take notes online you are dropped right into the new note screen. To get your data out, you can email or download the note in multimarkdown format.

What shameless self promotion, bravo! I wish someone would just once write:
“Hey guys, I founded this service which is relevant, why not take a look, it has these and these features…”
Sigh…
Nevertheless, the site looks good, perhaps worth a try. Totally untrue about the first paragraph you wrote, but still the service look solid.
