Deezer – Music on demand

deezer playerDeezer is a great music on demand site I found via gHacks, and since I usually don’t regard these sites too highly (they are often mediocre at best) it took me a while to take a look. I was really surprised for two reasons. It actually manages to take over Pandora’s lead by offering content to non US residents and it offers true content on demand, not just radio stations with music similar to your search.

I searched for Maroon 5, and I got 109 results, all instantly playable. Impressive to say the least. Deezer grabbed my attention even more when I saw that I could sort these by album, by title or by band (of course not relevant in this search), I could even rate, and then sort by rating. All this without ever having to register.

In fact, most actions are available to casual visitors, you will only have to register to put together playlists and interact with the community. The design and execution of this service is first class, I would say that this is the best music service I’ve seen in a long time, in it’s specific genre, it even beats YouTube in my opinion.
